Donation to the Social Grocery of the Municipality of Chania

The Social Grocery of the Municipality of Chania received a big donation from the Gelasakis Group of Companies. More specifically, a truck filled with baby and kid supplies, including diapers, wipes, and baby food arrive at the Social Grocery on Thursday, August 8.

The Mayor of Chania, Mr. Panagiotis Simandirakis, the  Deputy Mayor of Social Policies, Mrs. Eleni Zervoudaki, and the Public Relations Manager of the Gelasakis Group of Companies, Mrs. Evi Tzagkaraki - Gelasaki, were present in order to deliver and receive the goods.

In a statement, Mrs. Evi Tzagaraki-Gelesaki noted that: "Helping others and, especially the people of Chania, is one of the pillars of development of our social responsibility. Thus, we wish to support the Social Grocery and add a stone to the assistance given by the municipality of Chania, which has proven to be very successful thus far, with a sizable portion of humanitarian aid, of which a portion was delivered today. Wonderful people and a wonderful place is The Social Grocery. I hope that they go into the hands of those who need them and that we too can help whenever and wherever we can."

"It is with great pleasure today that we welcome to the Social Grocery a large offer from the Gelasakis Group of Companies. It is an excellent occasion to invite every citizen, every individual, and every business owner to offer to those in need. As a municipality we have the absolute responsibility of this donation to end up in those in need," said Mr. Panagiotis Simandirakis . "An offer that emphasizes the need that exists in the fellow man and the responsibility we have as a state and as individuals to contribute and strengthen all the solidarity efforts made."

As she turned to thank the Gelasakis Group of Companies for their support of the Social Grocery, Deputy Mayor of Social Policies, Mrs Eleni Zervoudaki, said, "A very big thank you for all this offer that you know will help a significant number of our fellow citizens."

It is noteworthy to mention that the Social Grocery of the Municipality of Chania provides services to nearly 1,200 beneficiaries, meaning that private support and assistance are critical to its operation.
